1843 poss the John who was sent to Gibraltar after receiving 15 yr sentence for stealing
Report in Hertford Mercury and Reformer 04 March 1843 states "John Pitts (22) labourer, Pirton, and Thomas Davis (23) labourer, Offley, were convicted of committing a robbery upon,and ill treating a bricklayer named William Huckle, on the road between Offley and Hitchin, on the 27th of November, and sentenced to 15 years transportation.
