Rank GunnerDetails of his army career obtained from his brother Leslie Dawdry. He served in the Royal Horse Artillery in World War 1. Regimental Number 146061- Silver War Badge No. B67833 (Piece 2974) He was medically discharged from the army in August 1916. Discharge Regiment 1c Res Bde R.F.A.Later as a reservist he also served in Ireland in 1917 with the Royal Hours Artillery.It was here that he contracted pneumonia which later turned to pleurisy, he finally contracted T.B. of which he finnaly died 7th December 1939 in the Foxhall Hospital Ipswich. Following his funeral he was buried in the old cemetery Ipswich later in the December. by:- Derrick Dawdry son

DAWDRY Leslie. Peacefully at Haughgate House Nursing Home, Woodbridge, on January 24, 2010, aged 98. Devoted husband of the late Mary, loving father of Christopher and Jane, and doting grandad and great-grandad. Grateful thanks to all the wonderful staff at Haughgate House. Funeral Service at Ipswich Crematorium, North Chapel, on Thursday, February 4, at 1.45 p.m.
